Learning about Organic farming in the Philippines

Today we made a visit to an organic farm in Bohol. 4 hectares of organic goodness, an inspiring 3 year old project supported by the local government to encourage organic farming of vegetables and livestock. We learnt how it is possible to grow a whole range of produce naturally without artificial chemicals, and the zero-waste policy of farming such that every waste product is being used in another part of farming.

We sampled fresh and organic herbs and vegetables such as sweet basil, mint, cherry tomatoes, tarragon and more.

We saw also free range chicken and other livestock like pigs and goats in healthy, clean pens.

The purpose of this farm is also to educate local farmers on different methods of organic farming, to encourage healthier and more sustainable way of living.

We can improve our wellness through selecting our foods from naturally grown organic sources and supporting local farmers and produce.
